I start this post with one simple statement: In the South, specifically in Georgia, the most obnoxious people you will ever meet are fans of the University of Georgia.

I’ve known this for quite some time now, but just recently I realized just how obnoxious, and down right retarded they are.

Here’s some brief background.

I have lived in this wonderful state for 10 years now and have encountered many a UGA Bulldog fan, or should I say Bulldawg fan? I don’t know.

While I have met many an obnoxious Georgia football fan (and by many I mean all of them). But not once in that 10 year history have I ever encountered a UGA baseball fan.

That is, of course, until the Bulldogs reached the College World Series.

Ever since the ‘Dawgs’ made the trip to Omaha to fight for a national title, that’s all I’ve been hearing about.

All of a sudden these people are living and dying by Georgia baseball. Five months ago they couldn’t have named three people on the Georgia roster, but now they are on the cusp of naming their first born child Gordon or Beckham.

It’s really quite ridiculus.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy the Bulldogs are on the cusp of winning a national championship in baseball.

But I’m even more glad that they are nine outs away from losing.

I just wonder if when they lose (notice I say when not if), if all those out-of-nowhere Bulldog baseball fans will continue with their sudden fanaticism.

Knowing what I know of sports fans in Georgia, I know they won’t.
