Survey Says?? Denver, That’s the Number One ANSWER
Now that the month long episode of “The Family Feud-Allen Iverson Edition” is finally over, I guess it’s time for me to put forth some sort of opinion on the “Big Trade” that went down.
First things first. Atleast A.I will teach Carmelo Anthony how to not fight like a bitch. So that alone makes the trade worth while.
But seriously, the trade will work out.
I am not a part of the camp that thinks Iverson’s and Melo’s attitudes and egos will clash and the team’s chemistry will go down the toilet. That they will fight over the ball and bitch and moan about who gets more shots and who gets to take the last shot and blah blah blah.
That may have been true five years ago, but not now.
There comes a time in a player’s career where the switch finally gets turned on. Yeah, Iverson is still one of the toughest sons of a bitch in the league, and he still plays harder than anyone I’ve ever seen lace em up, but that attitude he once had is not what defines him anymore.
Sure, he bitched about practice (can you blame him? I wouldn’t have wanted to be around that team either if it wasn’t a game. Practice for AI back then was like heading over to your girlfriend’s house, and having to sit there and watch her do her hair and put on makeup, all while complaining about her jackass coworkers. And when she’s done you get no play. All that for nothing. Just like AI and practice.)
But the move to Denver is just what AI needed (and the Nuggets too). He is finally playing with a bonafide superstar, a guy that will shoulder some of the work load and a guy that he can get along with.
Melo and AI are a lot alike. They both grew up in tough neighborhoods, both are outstanding talents, and both have the desire to win. There’s no reason why this thing shouldn’t work.
Melo and Iverson. That’s the final answer.
