Am I Feeling A Draft?

Who's this year's Sam Bowie? The 2006 NBA Draft is tonight (7pm ESPN). A night filled with excitement, cliches and bad suits.

Just like every year, lots and lots of rumors and questions are flying around just hours before the draft. Here’s just a few:

  • Will Toronto hold on to the first pick?
  • Are the Hawks really thinking about taking Sheldon Williams at #5? (This would be the smartest things the Hawks have done in years…more on this tomorrow if it happens.)
  • How bad will MJ screw up the draft for the Bobcats?
  • How funny will the Stuart Scott/Andrea Bargnani interview be?
  • Will JJ Redick admit that carrying Duke the past couple years is the real reason why his back is hurting?
  • Will Marcus Williams get drafted at number 7, or steal 7 laptops? Better odds?
  • How many Gay goes to Bay Area jokes will be made?

These are the questions I’m asking anyway.

If you want some good draft day coverage check out my boys over at TrueHoop and DraftExpress…nothing like Internet fodder to get you all riled up for tonights festivities.

Here’s what I thought would happen in the Draft. Now here’s what I think:

  1. Toronto- Andrea Bargnani
  2. Chicago- Ty Thomas
  3. Charlotte- Brandon Roy
  4. Portland- Adam Morrison
  5. Atlanta- Sheldon Williams
  6. Minnesota- LeMarcus Aldridge
  7. Boston- Randy Foye
  8. Houston- Saer Sene
  9. Golden State- Rudy Gay
  10. Seattle- Rodney Carney
  11. Orlando- JJ Redick
  12. New Orleans- Patrick O’Bryant
  13. Philadelphia- Marcus Williams
  14. Utah- Ronnie Brewer

(Update: In case you can’t tell I got 5/14 picks right.  If you take into consideration that Chicago ended up with Ty Thomas that puts me up to 6/14.  Not too bad for my first ever Draft prediction.)
