R.I.P Vito

Good to see the gayboy wearing a hat of a catholic universitySo the saga ends. Our good friend Vito has gone to meet his maker. And he’s goin with a cue stick firmly implanted in his bunghole. Quite a fitting way to go if you ask me…

It’s good to see that the writers of Sopranos have come back to life. Well more so then in previous episodes.

Finally the whole Vito saga gets dealt with. Of course it was Phil who finally took care of it, but none the less, it is dealt with.

Vito was seen getting brutally beat down in his hotel room by a couple of thugs. Which, if you ask me, was much better than seeing Vito just getting down in a hotel room with Johnny Cakes.

Another poor schmuck gets killed a few minutes later delivering one of the funniest lines so far this season when refering to the billard stick being shoved between Vito’s side pockets: “I wonder if they chalked the cue stick.” Down right hilarious.

With Vito gone we won't have to worry about seeing this anymore I think this dude could have gone on forever with his Vito jokes, but alas he went to far and thus was forced to meet the bad end of a carving knife. Too bad for that guy.

Not only were there 2 killings, but we also had a great scene of Tony gettin dome from a shoe model while he’s driving her home. (I guess he cared about Carmella being in Paris as much as the rest of us did.) Which brings me to my next point.

Who the hell cares about the architectural layout of Paris? I am sure it’s wonderful over there with their fancy designer clothing boutiques, their art museums and their “royale with cheese”, but this ain’t the Travel channel, it’s HBO, and no one cares how Carmella is spending her time overseas (just the fact that she’s over there is good enough for me).

This has been the main downfall of this season of the Sopranos, the writer’s commitment to overdeveloping the characters and the plot. Too often we are subjected to long scenes of random dialogue that does nothing to satisfy our Sopranos pallet.

This show is supposed to be about a crime family in New Jersey. A show about how the leader of this crime family deals with the ups and downs of both of his families…the real and the mafia. This show was supposed to give a sort of inside look to crime families in an entertaining way. This show used to be what it’s supposed to be.

Now more often then not episodes could be shown on WE or Lifetime as opposed to HBO. With the exception of last night, I’ve seen more action on The Gilmore Girls than on The Sopranos.

I know, I am as disappointed as you areWith only one more episode this season the writers of this show better show me something. They almost got it right this past week, but they didn’t.

Make us viewers remember why we tune into this show in the first place, for the action and the drama…not just the drama and not the drama of Brokeback Mountain status.

Of course the season finale (airing June 4th) will probably be the best episode yet. An episode that will keep us hanging and anxiously awaiting 2 years until the next season airs. The next season where more than likely we’ll be disappointed again.
